PHASES OF A DESIGN PROJECT

Initial meeting between the client and the interior designer to discuss their wants and needs and our qualifications to meet them. This meeting does not involve free design advice. The purpose of this meeting is for both parties to decide if they are a good match to work together. If both parties agree it is, then they proceed to the next phase. If just consultation is required, it is charged at the time it is rendered and at the rate of $ 125.00 an hour for the time spent. It is payable at that time and a 2 hour minimum applies.

If more design services are required, Amy Weiss Designs draws up an agreement outlining the scope of work to be completed and the associated fees. The work can be done by: A. A set design fee B. An hourly rate of $ 125.00. Invoices will be made weekly.

Once the above decision is made, a deposit is requested to begin the design process.

Once the deposit is received, Amy Weiss Designs begins the design process which may include floor plans, remodeling suggestions, color theme, furniture placement, lighting design, wall treatments, window treatments, plant placement, audio video consultation, cabinet built-ins, appliance selection, hardware selection, plumbing selection and anything else that may be required for the interior renovation.

If working on a design fee basis, the balance of the design fee is due upon presentation of the design concept. If changes are necessary, they are discussed and made. A reasonable number of changes are anticipated and included in the design fee.

Once both parties are in agreement about what is to be done, Amy Weiss Designs will proceed to the next stage. Depending upon the scope of the work, this may be ordering merchandise and meeting with trades people and sub-contractors. Costs are as follows: A. Merchandise is ordered and charged at my cost plus 60% B. Accessory shopping is at the hourly rate of $ 125.00 and purchases are made at cost plus 25%.

If interior improvements are to be made, this will be done while waiting for the ordered merchandise to be received and/or fabricated. (ie remodeling, paint, wallpaper, flooring, lighting, electrical, sound systems, etc.) A. Supervision of trades is at the hourly rate of $ 125.00 an hour. The amount of supervision required is determined between the client and Amy Weiss Designs.

The next step is merchandise delivery. Where it will be delivered will be determined at the time of sale. If furniture is to be stored or received by a delivery service for delivery to the home, additional charges will be incurred.

Depending upon the scope of the work, after the interior improvements are completed and the merchandise has been received, it is time to have the furniture delivered, the window treatments installed, the art hung, and the accessories and plants placed. But before any installation can begin, the house must first be thoroughly cleaned. If construction has been done, the contractor will probably just leave the area in a "broom clean" condition.

The last and best phase is the walk-through with the client. BIG SMILES!!!!!! If necessary a punch list of changes is made. These issues will be addressed by the appropriate company or trade.

The end of the design process and the beginning of the next phase includes enjoying the new ambiance.
